A New Year and Farewell

Christie Aschwanden

After a year of serving as TON‘s managing editor, Christie Aschwanden is stepping down to make time for other projects. During her year as managing editor, Christie instituted a weekly publishing schedule and commissioned and edited pieces about topics such as how to write essaysturn articles into bookswrite short and figure out if you’re a writer or an editor. She interviewed Paige Williams and Richard Todd and edited Q&As with Brendan KoernerAmanda R. MartinezRachel AvivRobin Marantz Henig and Ed Yong (among others) and created our new A Day in the Life series. She has also played an essential role in planning and fundraising for new TON projects, including our new fellowship program as well as other plans still in the works.

Christie was one of TON‘s first writer interviews, as well as one of our first freelance guest contributors. She’s been a steadfast friend to The Open Notebook, and we’re very grateful for the many terrific contributions she’s made to the project, including as our managing editor. We’ll very much miss having her creative energy and organizational prowess on our masthead, but are very pleased that she’ll continue as a member of our advisory board. Thank you, Christie!
